Back from The Next Web Conference 2007 (June 2, 2007)I am back from “The Next Web 2007″ conference in Amsterdam that I attended to present the project I am currently working on.
I won’t talk about my project or what we have done at the conference, as it is still a secret ^^ but I can say some things about the other startups I have seen there and people I met there
Our booth was just next to the another french startup booth: MailEmotion, these guys are very cool and they provide a useful service that you might want to try: send videos by email. There was many other interesting startups, that we might hear about in the next few months !
I got a free “eBuddy.com” mug, and the person at the eBuddy booth was “damnnnnnn hoooooot” !!!!
I met also some great people, including Tariq Krim, CEO of Netvibes, the CEO of Allpeers that let us know there will be a huge announcement about Allpeers next week and various successful french entrepreneurs !

Interview with Patrick De Laive, Fleck.com Co-Founder (March 6, 2007)An interview with Patrick De Laive, co-founder of Fleck, a service that allows you to add a note to any page, then send it to your friends or use it in your blog. We talk about Web 2.0, Fleck, Entrepreneurship and the future !
I would like to talk in this article about a new service that I discovered recently and that I find really great: Fleck ! This service is still in beta, but I find it very promising.

Fleck lets you annotate any webpage and share your annotations with any one. They are providing post-its and mementos for any webpages, and you can share them with your friends to work collaboratively !
This concept is not really new since many other web services offered it before. However, the really amazing thing is that thanks to Web 2.0 technology you do not need to install any software on your computer, everything is working with transparent layers that appear on top of your webpage. And Fleck has dozens other good ideas that make this service very cool to use. If like me you often send webpages links to your friends/family members/co-workers and they ask you “but where is the information you are talking me about ?” then Fleck might be of great help for you. But don’t limit the scope of use of Fleck to this example: it is far more powerful and social !
The best is to make it try yourself by clicking on this link:
Fleck Test Page
In case you are a heavy user of the service, they have also developped tools to make your life easier and save your time:
- a plugin is available for both Internet Explorer and Firefox
- bookmarklets for Firefox and Internet Explorer
Although it is still in beta, Fleck’s team aims to fully release the second version during The Next Web conference (June 1, Amsterdam) has told me Patrick De Laive, one of Fleck’s founders.
Now we are going to make a short walkthrough of the service, as said previously the best is to try it by yourself to see how powerful it is.
- Type in the address of the website you want to annotate and click on the “Go” button
- The website will load and you will see appear a toolbar at the bottom of the page, where you can perform several actions
- Click on the “Note” button, a note will appear on top of the website. You can move it anywhere you want just by dragging it
- Type your comment inside the note and click on the “Share” button to send a mail to your friends with a link to the flecked page
- You can also submit the page to your blog directly from Fleck
- That’s all for the walkthrough, pretty easy isn’t it ?
As a conclusion of this article, I invite you to read this interview of Patrick De Laive that I have realized.
